	Bruce Fairley bruce [at] goldenlaw [dot] ca[email: bruce{at}goldenlaw{dot}ca] Bruce Fairley began his legal career with a 38 lawyer firm in downtown Vancouver in 1985, where his practice included work for some of the largest corporations in Canada. In 1988 he relocated to Golden in order to live in the mountains. He carries on a busy practice in the areas of real estate and development, commercial and corporate transactions, wills and estates, and civil litigation and acts for many businesses in Golden and throughout BC. Bruce has about 50 decisions in the B.C. Supreme Court and B.C. Court of Appeal reported on Quicklaw, and numerous decisions published in various law reports. He has held numerous volunteer positions in the Town of Golden, including Chair of the Economic Development Corporation, President of the Rotary Club, Governor and Chair of the Finance Committee of the College of the Rockies and Treasurer of several societies; he has also contributed to every land use planning forum conducted in Golden in the last 20 years. He is past President of the Kootenay Bar Association and prosecuted under contract for the Federal Department of Justice for sixteen years. Bruce is an avid mountain climber and author of two books and many articles on mountaineering; he is also a keen nordic and backcountry skier; a prominent conservation advocate, has written extensive music for the Golden Community Choir, and is a widely published poet.
	Maggie Melnychuk maggie [at] goldenlaw [dot] ca[email: maggie{at}goldenlaw{dot}ca] Maggie earned her law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1999, and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2000. After practicing for 2 years in her hometown of Trail, BC, she moved to Golden to continue her career and for new adventures. She has worked with Fairley & Scott as an associate since 2008. After 7 years of practicing family law, criminal defence and civil litigation, Maggie's main interests are now in solicitor's work, including wills and estates, probate, corporate and commercial work, all kinds of real estate transactions, and also some litigation including collections and foreclosures. Maggie is fortunate to have a 4-day work week, and even more fortunate to have a young son to spend her non-work days with. For fun, Maggie enjoys keeping Golden laughing with her antics as a member of the Golden Players community theatre group, attending local arts events, the Golden Wine Club, birdwatching and travelling with friends and family.
	John Manuel john [at] goldenlaw [dot] ca[email: john{at}goldenlaw{dot}ca] John moved to Golden from Vancouver in March 1991. In Vancouver, John studied at Capilano College and completed the two-year Legal Assistant diploma program. Since March 1991, whilst working with Bruce Fairley, John has assisted with real estate and related matters. Whether you are buying your first home with your first mortgage, or need to sell your property, it can be a stressful time and John's careful assistance and cheer will be a great help. John uses his skills to reduce client's stress so they can focus on moving or enjoying their new home. When John is not at the office, he enjoys spending time with his many friends, walking, hiking, community theatre, reading and travelling the world. Seeing how people live in different countries has given John a wider perspective on how we live in Golden and Canada.
	Bev Shehovac bev [at] goldenlaw [dot] ca[email: bev{at}goldenlaw{dot}ca] Since joining Fairley & Scott in 1999, Bev has become a familiar face in the office and our community. Bev is primarily the office manager and accountant; her responsibilities include managing accounts receivable and payable, trust accounting and most importantly, making sure the staff gets paid on time! Bev also provides invaluable support to both lawyers in corporate and commercial matters, as she assists clients in all aspects of incorporating new companies, amalgamations, re-organizations, share transfers and corporate record-keeping. Having first relocated to Golden with her RCMP husband Marko and young son in 1996, Bev now divides her non-work time between Golden and Radium Hot Springs where Marko is posted at the Columbia Valley Detachment.
	Mary Brown mary [at] goldenlaw [dot] ca[email: mary{at}goldenlaw{dot}ca] Mary has earned a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and a Legal Administrative Assistant diploma from Capilano University. After living in many places in western Canada, Mary made the Golden area her home in 2002 and has worked with Fairley & Scott since 2006. As a resourceful legal assistant with great instincts, Mary has been pleased to help with the many day-to-day inquiries of our clients, and provide litigation and real estate assistance to our lawyers and fellow staff members. Mary enjoys the challenge of keeping up to date with current relevant legislation and government regulations. She continues to take courses and seminars to stay knowledgeable, helpful and current on what is happening in the legal world. In her time away from work, Mary is a talented gardener, and enjoys reading and doing crafts.
