Bruce Fairley began his legal career with a 38 lawyer firm in downtown Vancouver in 1985, where his practice included work for some of the largest corporations in Canada. In 1988 he relocated to Golden in order to live in the mountains.
He carries on a busy practice in the areas of real estate and development, commercial and corporate transactions, wills and estates, and civil litigation and acts for many businesses in Golden and throughout BC.
Bruce has about 50 decisions in the B.C. Supreme Court and B.C. Court of Appeal reported on Quicklaw, and numerous decisions published in various law reports.
He has held numerous volunteer positions in the Town of Golden, including Chair of the Economic Development Corporation, President of the Rotary Club, Governor and Chair of the Finance Committee of the College of the Rockies and Treasurer of several societies; he has also contributed to every land use planning forum conducted in Golden in the last 20 years.
He is past President of the Kootenay Bar Association and prosecuted under contract for the Federal Department of Justice for sixteen years.
Bruce is an avid mountain climber and author of two books and many articles on mountaineering; he is also a keen nordic and backcountry skier; a prominent conservation advocate, has written extensive music for the Golden Community Choir, and is a widely published poet.
